611 arrest cases of drugs dealers announced by NDLEA in Kaduna within six months

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kaduna State Command, announced that it had arrested 611 suspected drug deals in the state from the period of January to July.

The anti-drugs agency Commander in Kaduna, Mr Umar Adoro who made this announcement on Monday while addressing journalists in Kaduna said that amongst the 611 arrested drugs traffickers, 480 had been enlightened on the effects of drugs trafficking and they were also reintegrated into the society.

In his words: “131 were charged to court and we secured the conviction of 69 and 62 are still awaiting trial within the period under review.

”Within the period under review, the command also seized illicit drug which included Cannabis 3,893.189kg , Cocaine 1.309kg, Heroin 0.097kg ,Psychotropic 3,949.63kg, Methamphetamine 0.147kg and Tramadol 1,851.369kg.

“The total drug seized was 3,898,991.552kg within the period under review,” Adoro told the journalists .

However, he intimated the general public to be vigilant of illegal actions of goods in their localities and do well to also provide information to the agency to enable it stop the increasing number of the dealers and consumption of hard drugs.

He also left a note of advice to the parents to pay attention to their children’s movements.
