Threads Keyword Search Feature Expands Globally to Users in All Languages

Threads keyword search feature expands globally to users in all languages, this, however, is not the same as the tags function, which is akin to the hashtag tool on X.

The keyword search feature on Threads, the Instagram microblogging platform, is now being expanded. The platform’s leadership has revealed information indicating that the feature, which was previously only available in some locations, will now be available to all users.

This, however, is not the same as the tags function, which is akin to the hashtag tool on X, formerly known as Twitter, and is something the firm is now testing in Australia. The tags feature is supposed to assist find postings connected to a given interest or subject.

Thursday saw the confirmation by Instagram Head Adam Mosseri that the keyword search feature is growing and would be accessible to all Threads users across all languages. After being tested in a few English-speaking nations, the feature was later made available in more English- and Spanish-speaking nations.

Mosseri stated “Today, we’re expanding keyword search everywhere Threads is available. This feature is supported in all languages – we hope this makes it easier to find and join conversations you’re interested in.”

Mosseri continued, “More improvements are coming to search soon, let me know in the replies if you have feedback,” although he did not specify which features would be included. In response to an inquiry from a user concerning the availability of chronological search results on Threads, Mosseri stated that doing so would “create a substantial safety loophole”.

It is anticipated that the keyword search feature will serve as a springboard for Threads to incorporate trending topic support, a capability that rival platform X offers. The addition of interactive tags to posts together with post counts suggests that trending topic support will soon be available.

Additionally, Threads introduced the option to remove profiles without simultaneously removing the associated Instagram account last month. When the microblogging site was launched in July, users could only disable their Threads profile temporarily because the firm had previously disclosed that the profile was closely linked to the original Instagram account.
