Court adjourns case against Abuja property developer, The case was filed before Justice Binta Nyako at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

The federal government’s case regarding electricity theft against Cecil Osakwe, an Abuja property developer, has been adjourned till April 13.

The case was scheduled for hearing on Thursday before the Federal High Court of Abuja’s Binta Nyako; however, the court was not in session, the Court adjourns case against Abuja property developer.

After the agreement, the parties’ counsel selected April 15 to continue the trial in the case.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mr. Osakwe has been accused by the federal government of stealing electricity worth N11 million.

According to the accusation, Mr. Osakwe violated Section 1(10) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act by allegedly tampering with power meters, causing the government to lose N11 million in revenue.

According to reports, Mr. Osakwe was apprehended by Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) officials for allegedly stealing electricity from multiple properties, including his own home.

Nonetheless, the defendant contested the legitimacy of the task force that looked into the events leading up to his arraignment.

He asserted that the legislation was unaware of the aforementioned task team.

He brought up a lawsuit that was still pending that involved the panel that conducted the investigation.
