A SERAP staff member revealed that DSS officers, including a female agent from the Federal Capital Territory Command, stormed their office without a formal invitation or clear purpose. The agents, who arrived at 11:09 a.m. and left at 11:21 a.m., demanded to see the Deputy Director, Kola, but were told he was out of the country. DSS officers, including a female agent, invaded SERAP’s office without a formal invitation, seeking the Deputy Director. When told he was unavailable, they claimed they were there for a “friendly chat” and asked to speak with other staff.A staff member of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has narrated how operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) invaded their office, asking for the Deputy Director.

The staff member described the scene as intimidating and harassment, saying the operatives were aggressive and refused to disclose the purpose of their visit. They searched the office, claiming they were looking for the Deputy Director, who was not present at the time.

The staff member expressed concern about the safety and well-being of the Deputy Director and other staff members, saying the invasion was a clear attempt to intimidate and harass them. They called on the government to respect the rights of civil society organizations and ensure their safety and security.

The invasion has been widely condemned by human rights groups and civil society organizations, who see it as an attack on the freedom of expression and association. They have called on the government to investigate the incident and hold those responsible accountable.

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has been a vocal critic of government policies and a staunch advocate for transparency and accountability. As a non-governmental organization, SERAP has consistently pushed for good governance, human rights, and the rule of law.

Through its advocacy efforts, SERAP has challenged government policies and actions that undermine transparency and accountability. The organization has filed numerous lawsuits, petitions, and freedom of information requests to hold government officials accountable for their actions.

SERAP’s work has focused on various areas, including corruption, electoral reform, and economic justice. The organization has criticized government policies that perpetuate corruption and entrench poverty and inequality.

By advocating for transparency and accountability, SERAP aims to promote a more just and equitable society. The organization believes that government officials must be held accountable for their actions and that citizens have the right to know how their resources are being managed.

SERAP’s vocal criticism of government policies has not gone unnoticed. The organization has faced intimidation, harassment, and even legal challenges from government officials. However, SERAP remains committed to its mission and continues to push for transparency and accountability.

The recent invasion of SERAP’s office by DSS operatives is a clear attempt to silence the organization and intimidate its staff. However, SERAP’s work is crucial to promoting good governance and accountability in the country.

As a vocal critic of government policies, SERAP plays a vital role in holding those in power accountable. The organization’s advocacy efforts have led to significant reforms and improvements in governance.

In a country where corruption and impunity are rampant, SERAP’s work is more critical than ever. The organization’s commitment to transparency and accountability is a beacon of hope for a better future
