The Osun village residents have been left in shock, following an incident where a son had to behead his father on the family land. Police in Osun State have arrested a man, identified as Saudi, for allegedly beheading his father on their family farm. The crime, which took place in the quiet village of Ilusi, has shaken the tight-knit rural community where violent acts of this nature are rare.

How The Shocking Incident Took Place

According to local sources, the victim, Baale, was a respected elder in the community and had last been seen heading to his farm with his son on a Thursday morning. After he failed to return home that evening, worried residents quickly organized a search party. Early the next day, members of the search team discovered Baale’s body concealed under palm leaves on the farm.

The discovery of Baale’s body sent shockwaves through the community. While describing the horrific scene, Ismail Olaolu, a neighbor and family friend took the lead and shared his experience: “We found Baale’s body on the farm, covered with palm leaves. His head was missing, and it was a horrifying scene. No one in the village ever imagined something like this would happen here.”

In addition to Baale’s body, villagers also found his motorcycle and recently harvested cocoa near the crime scene, which police promptly took as evidence. While initial details regarding the motive behind this brutal incident remain unclear, community members are grappling with the reality that one of their own may be responsible.

Following the discovery of Baale’s body, suspicion quickly turned to his son, who had accompanied him to the farm the morning he was last seen. Villagers, angered by the tragic loss of their respected elder, confronted the son directly. Witnesses reported that several residents, convinced of his involvement, restrained and severely beat him.

Initially, he denied any connection to the killing, maintaining his innocence. However, after facing intense questioning and pressure from the community, he eventually confessed to the crime.

Osun State Police spokesperson Yemisi Opalola confirmed the suspect’s detention, making it clear the commitment of the authorities to ensure justice has been served. “The suspect, who is the victim’s son, is currently in our custody. We are investigating the incident thoroughly to determine the motive behind such a brutal act,” Opalola stated. She also reassured the public that the police are making every effort to “restore peace and security in Ilusi village.”

The tragic incident has left Ilusi residents in deep shock and mourning. Baale was a highly regarded figure within the community, known for his gentle nature and contributions to local development. “The whole village is in shock. Baale was well-liked and respected. It’s tragic that it was his own son,” remarked Olaolu. The village, which prides itself on its peaceful way of life, is now struggling with the unimaginable nature of this crime.
