Atiku Abubakar, The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has pledged to partner with lecturers to bring an end to incessant strikes in Nigerian universities.

Atiku made the statement on Friday at Abuja, while speaking at a youth programme with the theme “Intergenerational Synergy on Government”, organised by PDP to commemorate and acknowledge the 2022 International Youth Day celebration.

The former Vice President, condemned the government’s inability to resolve the lingering ASUU strike situation and stated that such will not happen if he is elected as the president in 2023.

The former vice president, narrated how his father never wanted him to go to school and was was arrested for never wanting him to get an education. He further went on to described education as a fundamental right of every citizen, especially the children and the youths.

“I want to pledge that I will work with university authorities and government to make sure we end this incessant strikes by ASUU.

“This is because education is fundamental to your growth. It doesn’t matter whether you are in politics, business or any sector. The fundamental right of every youth or every citizen is to be educated.

“Therefore it is the responsibility of any responsible government to make sure that right is given to every Nigerian, every youth in this country,” Atiku said.

Atiku, also reiterated on his pledge to have a youth inclusive government, promised to provide the youths with opportunities to acquire the training and experience needed to take over from the older generations.

He beseeched the youths to support the PDP and help them to take over government in 2023 to rescue the nation and them.

“I believe that the PDP provides the best platform for you to actualise your individual’s collective and national aspirations,” he said.

Atiku encouraged youths who had passion and interest for politics to continue being patient and build their way up to the top.
