Nigeria’s Flamingoes beat Galatasaray Ladies of Turkey in FIFA prematch

THE U-17 women’s team of Nigeria, Flamingoes on Saturday beat the Galatasaray Ladies of Turkey 3-1 in Kocaeli, Turkey, during their prematch in preparation for the upcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup scheduled to hold in India.

Opeyemi Ajakaye scored the opener for the Flamingoes in the 26th minute of the game to put Coach Bankole Olowookere’s side ahead of the Galatasaray Ladies.

The goal was later doubled eight minutes later when Edidiong Etim found the back of the net to put the Flamingoes Ladies two goals ahead. However, Ebru Topliv scored for the Galatasaray Ladies hoping to level up things.

Edidiong Etim scored a brace in the 77th minute to put Nigeria another step higher than the Galatasaray Ladies.

The Flamingoes are on a 10-day training camp ahead of this year’s FIFA U-17 Women World Cup in India.

The Flamingoes are scheduled in Group B alongside Germany, New Zealand and Chile with their opener being against Germany on October 11th.

The Women’s World Cup is scheduled to kick off on 11th October.
