Champions League Matchweek That Delivered- THE KICK-OFF

Champions League Matchweek That Delivered- THE KICK-OFF
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

There’s something special about the Champions League and that’s due to the fact it always serves us a treat. England’s top right-backs put up a great performance, Barca left wanting, Bayern and Real pick up form to stay perfect and we’re probably bored with anything relating to Erling Halaand at this point.

REECE JAMES & ALEXANDER ARNOLD

England has two gems at their palms but the debate looms on. Alexander Arnold attacking output as a defender is by no doubt impeccable, his distribution is world-class, but there’s this one thing attached to him that doesn’t quite go away; he’s a DEFENDER. It’s the most inconsistent part of his game and no matter how Jurgen Klopp tries to cover or defend him in those situations, it keeps getting clearer.

Reece James on the other hand is the whole package, he can do almost all required of him and more. He’s pacy, physically strong, attack minded right back. Wilfried Zaha and Rafael Leao are the most recent of his victims. He doesn’t let those left-wingers have any fun, and guess what, he always seems to be up the pitch causing trouble as well.

While keeping Leao at lock, he was able to get a goal and an assist as well. This says it’s fun to have a defender that can also do well up the pitch, but the most important aspect is he does his business at the back as well. We’ll give this to Reece James.

A ROBOT AMONG MEN!

We’re scared, you’re scared and the whole of the footballing world is scared as well. There’s no word to describe him at this point, he has produced numbers that don’t seem real. Averaging 1.5 goals this season, already at 19 goals and credits to Pep for trying to keep the world sane for another few days because we knew he was going to get that hattrick, Halaand is going to destroy every goal-scoring record he can think of.

His physical build and the quality he possesses haven’t been seen before, Grealish was lost for words as he confirm our statement yesternight. He’s unstoppable and we feel for the defenders that’ll have to face him this season.

EUROPA LEAGUE?!

Well, surely not for Barça we guess. They did play well and VAR calls were wrongly against them but they didn’t do so much is that they had the ball the most. Maybe Inter defended so well, but needless crosses didn’t help and they were too predictable. Raphinha was acting lost most of the time and Pedri was the best player on the pitch and had a goal chalked off, but they didn’t do so much.

They play Inter at Camp Nou and if they can’t get all 3 points there, then there’s a big problem.

The Europa League returns today, and Arsenal and Manchester United return to action. Much expected win we know, except if any of them doesn’t.
