Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine and now a politician, has regained his freedom from the United Arab Emirates authorities in Dubai.

Wine reported that he was imprisoned over the weekend after coming into Dubai to perform at a concert. He was held for 12 hours and questioned about his political party, family, and personal information.

The Central African News Agency reported that he was subsequently released without charge, and the concert whose revenues were to support African migrants in the gulf nation was then canceled.

However, the Ugandan independence warrior has accused embassy authorities for the cancellation of his event.

Bobi Wine stated, “The information I have is that the Ugandan embassy in Dubai influenced the cancellation of this concert because maybe if I was able to return these girls back home then the government of Uganda will be slapped in the face,”

He said, “I have performed in Dubai many times for the last 15 years but this show was canceled, and the cancellation was not adequately explained.”

Mr. Kyagulanyi ran in the presidential election last year but lost to the incumbent Yoweri Museveni.
