Wednesday marked the beginning of a two-day training for the Kebbi State Police Command’s officers on current investigation and prosecution techniques.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Magaji-Kontagora, applauded and commended the workshop’s organizers when he inaugurated the training at the command’s headquarters in Birnin Kebbi.

The State Criminal Investigation Department organized the training for Area Crime Officers (ACOS), Division Crime Officers (DCOS), and Investigation Police Officers (IPOS), according to the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) (CID).
v
Magaji-Kontagora remarked that the training was pertinent and timely due to its significance in case decisions.

He stated, “There is no better time than now for a workshop like this to be held, in order to keep our detectives abreast of modern methods of investigating cases in line with international best practices.

“In the same vain, the Kebbi State Police Command under my watch will continue to organize workshops, seminars, and conferences, not only in the areas of investigation and prosecution of cases, but in civility to members of the public, crowd control, and others.

“This is with a view to refreshing the memories of personnel to discharge their duties effectively, most especially during the forthcoming 2023 General Elections.”

The Commissioner promised facilitators and participants that the command would do everything within its ability to foster the cross-fertilization of ideas and robust conversations.

He exhorted the trainees to seize the opportunity presented by the training by learning knowledge and employing it to propel the command and the Police to greater heights.

Earlier, in a welcome address, Mr. Ogundare Dare, Deputy Commissioner of the Crime Investigation Department (CID), defined investigation and prosecution as a fundamental feature of police work.

Dare pointed out, however, that extensive investigation was essential for getting convictions in court, hence the requirement for personnel training to accomplish the desired result.
