In the Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State, at least eleven people were electrocuted to death, while many others were injured.

The event occurred on Wednesday afternoon in the Gwargwaje neighborhood of Zaria Local Government, resulting in the burning of a number of structures and businesses.

According to the management of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, the terrible incident was triggered by a high-tension line break on a low-tension line, which resulted in a voltage supply that exceeded permissible levels.

In a statement, Abdulazeez Abdullahi, the head of corporate communication for Kaduna Electric, expressed regret over the incident, stating that a preliminary investigation revealed that the incident was caused by a high-tension line breaking on a low-tension line, resulting in an excessive voltage supply.

“The source feeder was immediately opened on emergency to avoid further damages. Kaduna Electric expresses the deepest sympathy to the families who encountered losses as a result of the incident.”

“We are grateful to His Royal Highness, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, Emir of Zazzau for his support to all in managing the effects of the incident”.

Alhaji Bature Aliyu, a community leader, stated that the fire destroyed every home in the Police Barracks, New Layout Unguwar Major Aliyu, and New Kauran Juli neighborhoods.
