Amazon asks influencers to submit videos for $25 each

Amazon announces Supply Chain by Amazon

Amazon announces Supply Chain by Amazon

Amazon asks influencers to submit videos for $25 each – Amazon is aiming to grow its “Inspire” shopping feed, similar to TikTok, and is proposing to pay influencers $25 per video, but some creators are mocking Amazon saying that the payment is low. The business emailed a list of influencers and asked them to submit videos showing two or more Amazon products from the same category.

According to a screenshot of the email released online, the corporation is giving $12,500 for a maximum of 500 movies, or $25 per eligible video. Bloomberg was the first to report the news.

According to Amazon, the initiative is intended to cap at 35,000 videos, which will cost the company $875,000, according to the screenshot. The company is looking for videos that “could be a product review of two or more products, a product comparison video, a ranking video listing the best products in a certain category, or even gift inspiration featuring multiple products,” the email reads.

Some creators have reacted to Amazon’s offering and mocked the low payment on social media.

“25$ per job lol Amazon can go find someone else to play that game,” said one creator in a post on X (formerly Twitter). One creator wrote: “500 videos !! Damn that’s a full-time JOB haha,” while another said, “SOOOOO Up To $25 / video LOL no thanks.”

The online retail giant unveiled the Inspire feed last December, providing a new short-form video and photo stream that allows people to explore items and ideas and shop from content made by influencers, businesses and other customers. The purpose behind the introduction was likely to pull consumers’ attention away from apps like TikTok, where brands can directly promote to consumers, in order to drive sales on Amazon.

Amazon needs to present a steady stream of new and interesting videos to keep users engaged with the feed, which is why the company is looking to entice influencers with a cash offer. However, the rate it is offering is significantly lower than what influencers typically make per image or video.

Influencers typically charge $212 for the type of content requested by Amazon, according to Brands Meet Creators, an industry consulting organization. Of course, rates vary by creator, so some earn considerably more per post. Given these circumstances, Amazon will most likely find it difficult to entice creators by offering a fraction of what they regularly earn.

According to Bloomberg, the timing of Amazon’s initiative is not surprising, given TikTok’s recent efforts to expand its e-commerce offerings. Last November, the company began testing TikTok Shop in the United States, allowing businesses to sell their goods directly on the app with a full checkout experience.

TikTok is also said to be testing a new in-app “Trendy Beat” shopping section in which it will sell products shipped and sold by a subsidiary of its parent company, ByteDance. TikTok’s new business model involves it operating an e-commerce model similar to how Amazon Basics and Shein promote and sell their own bestselling products. So, as TikTok looks to take on Amazon and Shein, Amazon is looking to build out and promote its TikTok-style Inspire feed.
