The Abeokuta North youths under the auspices of Abeokuta North Youths Vanguard, have demanded accountability from their representative at the Ogun State House of Assembly as a result of poor representation.

In a press statement signed by the President of the association, Ayoade Elegbede, the youths said they were disillusioned about the alleged non-challenge of their elected representative in the State Assembly towards her constituents over the years and issued a month ultimatum to her to render accounts of her stewardship or be recalled.

Describing her purported nonchalant attitude as ugly, unacceptable and an aberration which must stop, Elegbede said the youths would not hesitate to organize massive protests before initiating a recall process to sack the lawmaker.

According to the statement, the ultimatum became imperative, alleging that the lawmaker have continuously lived a life away from her constituent with no transparency, accountability and proper representation to show.

Elegbede said: “It’s so sad that we the people of Abeokuta North State Constituency seems to only enjoy the beauty of having a beautiful woman represent us. Aside that, we have little or nothing to show as what we’ve derived from our dear Hon. Modupe Onikepo Mujota.

Her official facebook page which should be interactive and also serve as a means of informing her constituents on whatever giant strides she’s making has turned to a page for greetings alone last updated April 5.

It is our constitutional privilege and right to get the audience of our elected representative. Worst still is the fact that there is hardly the existence of “functional” constitutional office. ANYV, on behalf of the whole constituents, demands that this ugly and unacceptable representation ends with immediate effect. This is an aberration that must be stopped. We demand a more vocal and active representative.

Speaking further, Elegbede challenged the elected representative to make public the list of constituency projects supposedly executed between 2019 and 2020 for verification.

“We demand to know what projects she has embarked on as constituency projects. This is to enable us to prepare for full-time inspection and monitoring”.
