ASUU strike: Femi Gbajabiamila holds stakeholders’ meeting behind locked doors

The meeting initiated by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila and stakeholders to consider the crisis between Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and Federal Government is in progress, although it is held behind locked doors.

The meeting is said to had commenced at about 3:45pm with Gbajabiamila calling the stakeholders’ meeting in a bid to resolve the crisis that have caused the closedown of federal universities for seven months now.

In attendance at the meeting is the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed; Minister of Labour, Employment and Productivity, Chris Ngige; Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu; the national leadership of ASUU and other critical stakeholders. The Minister of State for Education, Goodluck Opiah, and a representative of the Labour Ministry are also in attendance.

Some ASUU members are also in attendance, although the ministers of Finance and Labour are not in attendance.
