Manchester United has confirmed that new signing Casemiro will wear the No.18 shirt following his arrival from Real Madrid earlier this week.

The 30-year-old, who won five Champions League titles during his time in the Spanish capital, has joined United on a four-year deal, with the option to extend his stay by a further year. The Reds have splashed out an initial fee of £60million to land the vastly experienced midfielder.

His arrival at Old Trafford has significantly strengthened manager Erik ten Hag’s squad, not least his midfield options. United have been desperate to add a midfielder to their ranks all summer but prioritized the signing of Barcelona ace Frenkie de Jong.

The Brazilian is considered one of the best defensive-midfield players in the world, meaning his presence should make a notable difference to the way United plays. He is a world-class operator, capable of breaking up play and being aware of everything going on around him.
