Super Eagles

Yesterday at the Oran Olympic Stadium in Algeria, the Desert Foxes of Algeria fought the Super Eagles of Nigeria to a 2-1 victory in their friendly match, extending the North African win against Nigeria to ten.

Nigeria played without their in-form Napoli forward Victor Osimhen; defender William Troost-Ekong and other key players.

Terem Moffi had given Nigeria a lead in the encounter just eight minutes into the game; his first goal for Nigeria in five games.

His early opener was however levelled when Manchester City star, Riyad Mahrez scored for the Fennecs from the spot in the 40th minute.

Jose Peseiro’s boy had dominated the game later on but a cracker from Algeria’s Youcef Atal in the second half separated the tie between the two teams.

It is the first time Jose Peseiro is losing to a North African side since taking over from the team earlier in the year.

Nigeria and Algeria played against each other for 21 times.
