Nigeria’s U-17 Women’s Football Team, Flamingoes have commenced their U-17 Women’s World Cup with a 2-1 loss to Germany at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Margao.

Svea Stold however levelled the scores with her 49th minute goal from a corner kick and Mara Alber scored the winner for the Germans in the 61st minute to claim all three points for the Germans in their opening match.

Nigeria had made chances in the first half of the game with Opeyemi Ajakaye’s shot blocked by the bar.

Nigeria is in Group B alongside Germany, Chile and New Zealand.

Nigeria will face New Zealand in their second group fixture on Friday, October 14, 2022 while Germany face Chile.
