The Labour Party governorship candidate Lasun Yussuff Suleiman has raised an alarm notifying people of the presence of unknown gunmen shooting sporadically outside his residence in his country home Ilobu, Osun State.

The governorship candidate made this known via his official Twitter handle on Sunday.

The alleged incident occurred hours after Yussuff participated in the governorship debate organised by Channels TV.

With the Osun state elections only five days away, the attack is believed to be politically related.

According to Lasun the gunmen were arrayed in uniforms, although he did not state specifically the uniform in which they were dressed in.

Lasun Yussuff in his tweet said, “Just in: gun men in uniforms are presently in my residence shooting sporadically.”

Although there has been no report of casualties following the event, the governorship candidate has shared some photos showing the effect of the attack on his residence.

Yussuff tweeted about five hours later, saying “And (remember) when the disbelievers plotted against you to imprison you, or to kill you, or to expel you (from your home, Makkah); they were plotting and Allah too was plotting, and Allah is the best of plotters. Quran 8 verse 30.”

Osun police spokesperson Opalola Yemisi told TheCable that the alleged incident is being investigated.

The photos were released to disprove the allegations of people presuming that Lasun was spreading false rumors to the public to attract media pity ahead of the elections.
