The Operation Puff Adder agents in Abuja have apprehended the suspended kidnap kingpin who was responsible for a string of high-profile kidnapping incidents in Bayelsa State, and the police have revealed his true identity.

The suspect’s real name is John Ewa, not Lyon John, which was the most popular name on social media.

According to information obtained by Swagenews, John Ewa changed his identity to John Lyon while working as a dispatch rider for a commercial bank after being fired for allegedly participating in illegal actions there.

It was discovered that Ewa had completed various tasks for his supervisor while employed at the bank, giving him access to confidential information that was later given to criminal elements for use in operations.

Ewa is alleged to have hired youths to conduct a kidnapping ring that specialized in abducting prominent state residents when his employment was terminated.

Investigations indicate that Puff Adder agents tracked down Ewa after apprehending Kingsley Innocent and Godlives Donald, two suspects in the kidnapping of Mr. Danjuma Emeije, a manager at Premium Trust Bank Yenagoa.

Emeije was abducted on June 30, 2022, and freed after allegedly paying a ransom of 50 Million.

According to police sources, Ewa is well known for his opulent lifestyle and extravagant spending at nightclubs in Yenagoa. He operates Lyon Interior hub as a front for his illegal activities.

According to reports, he organized the kidnapping of the sister of the late governor Seriake Dickson and other prominent Igbo businessmen, which forced many of them to leave the state.

According to police sources, Ewa denied being a member of the gang that abducted Danjuma during interrogation but admitted to having engaged in just two kidnapping operations.

Remember that on Sunday, the alleged kidnapper’s tale became the first to trend on social media. Ewa appeared in a viral video wearing handcuffs and a boxer on the grounds of Operation Puff Adder Yenagoa.

In the viral video, the alleged kidnapper was heard pleading with police to pardon him and mentioning that his wife had recently given birth.

“I was not involved in your kidnap (referring to the Danjuma). There is a guy they always call for a job, his name is Millow. Please, sir, forgive me. I was not involved in your matter. Please Sir my wife just gave birth”

Police sources claim that Ewa went to Premium Trust Bank under the pretense of looking into opening an account for his kids while actually looking into Danjuma.

Danjuma, who was present at Puff Adder’s location, stated that he could identify Ewa as one of the kidnapped who was on a couch being beaten by his gang members.

According to a police source, a close friend of Ewa who is the sister-in-law of a candidate for governor of one of the state’s major political parties is also in police detention and is being questioned about the kidnapping episodes in the state.

If nothing unexpected happens, the insider claims that Ewa will be shown to the media this week.
