Ondo, Oyo, Osun, Zamfara, Kaduna and Nasarawa states have recorded 23 new cases as the country continues to battle the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has blamed the police for the porosity of the state borders as the State said it recorded its fourth COVID-19 case on Saturday.
It was gathered that the fourth case, said to be a policeman, was reportedly tested in Lagos State but failed to await the result before travelling to Ondo State.
He allegedly passed through the state’s entry point without any hindrance at the border.
Governor Akeredolu confirmed the case on Twitter on Saturday, saying the infected policeman had been admitted to the isolation centre in Akure, the state capital.
Also, the Osun State Government says it has conducted fresh 167 coronavirus tests, out of which 12 returned positive.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu, said in a statement on Saturday that the 12 new cases were recorded in Osogbo, Ife, Ede, Ikire and Ejigbo.
Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, said on Saturday evening that four new COVID-19 cases had been recorded in the state.
Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, said on Saturday he had received a report from the NCDC that two persons had been infected with coronavirus.
Speaking in a state-wide broadcast, Matawalle advised the people of the state to take more proactive measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
Also, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Mohammed-Baloni, on Saturday, confirmed a fresh case of COVID-19, raising the active cases in the state from three to four.
Meanwhile, no fewer than three persons in Aso Pada in Guruku area of Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State have tested positive for coronavirus
The state Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, who also doubles as the Chairman, Task Force on COVID-19, confirmed this on Saturday in Lafia.
