THE government of Bayelsa State has given a directive that all primary and secondary schools in the state should embark on a compulsory six-week flood break, due to the graving impacts of the recent flood in Bayelsa State.

The government issued out this directive in a bid to protect the students from the impending flood crisis in the state.

Governor Duoye Diri has also set up a task force team to ensure that people who are affected by the recent flood can be made to relocate to safer locations until flooding in the affected areas are stopped.

Many costal and non-costal parts of Nigeria has witnessed great flooding in recent times as a result of the excessive inflow of flood from external borders like Cameroon.

According to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), more than 300 persons have been killed by devastating floods across Nigeria in 2022.
