Bridget Anyahull, a member representing the Osimiri South regional government in the Delta State House of Representatives, presented the winner of the Maiden Osimiri South 2024 quiz contest with a check worth more than 120 million .
Presenting checks to students in the Delta State capital shallow Water on Wednesday, competition sponsors said the quiz competition is designed to strengthen the basic and secondary school students and students’ intellectual abilities in the Osimiri Southern Local government.
Anyafulu points out that the world has become a global village, stressing that the younger generation of Delta should not be left behind in the digital world, and that many people should not be left behind from the comfort of their homes.
She said, “The famous great men and women are all determined and robust capacity-building that they can be considered in different areas of human endeavor that will also be great.”
“The focus of the competition is on public schools because I believed that students and students in such schools can do better than their counterparts in private schools.
I thank the Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, to encourage team spirit among state leaders, local government area, and district level, played at various stages of the competition, I would like to commend the stakeholders, especially teachers, whose contributions helped to make the competition successful.I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I would like to commend the teachers who have contributed to the success of the competition.I am, I am, I am, I am.”
In their separate remarks, the Commissioner for Technical Education, Mr. Smart Ufoh, and the President, the National Universal Basic Education Board, Samuel Marière, sponsored the initiative, saying that building young people’s intellectual abilities through programs such as quiz competitions and school discussions will keep them on track and focus on the pursuit of education and help them achieve their goals early in life. He said it was a surefire way to instill a competitive spirit at a new stage
President Anthony Igubeke, who led the judging committee, congratulated the participating schools and their representatives for their impressive performance and praised the sponsors who were given the opportunity for children to show off their knowledge.
The quiz was done in math, English, physics, chemistry and general paper, middle school students were done in English and mathematics, and elementary school students were done in English and mathematics.
The event presented cheques to the winning schools and introduced educational materials such as exercise books, math sets, bilopens and school bags to the children.
Government model secondary school, Asaba emerged Senior secondary category winner after beating Niger Mixed Secondary School and Zappa mixed Secondary School in two or three positions.
The school is also ahead of Isioma Onyeobi Secondary School and Osadenis High School in the Junior Secondary category, winning prize money of n300,000 for seniors and N150,000 for junior cadres, and Ahabam Elementary School, Asaba, won Ogbeafor and Abuator Elementary schools.
