A granite-laden truck on Monday crushed two persons to death and injured another in an accident.
The accident occurred on the Oju-Ore-Idi-Iroko Road around the Winners axis, in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The Public Relations Officer of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
Akinbiyi said the accident involved three persons; a truck with registration number XA977JBD and a motorcycle with no registration number.
According to Akinbiyi, an eyewitness account showed that a motorcyclist who was inbound Ojuore, Ota, from Iyana-Iyesi caused the accident.
The TRACE spokesperson added that the motorcyclist who carried two passengers during the incident rode against traffic when the truck ran over them.
He said, “The motorcyclist rode against traffic while trying to manoeuver his way in the gridlock when the truck rammed into them.
“The motorcyclist and one of the persons riding with him died on the spot. The other passenger was taken to the hospital.
“The body of the two victims had been deposited at the morgue of Ifo General Hospital, while the driver of the truck, as well as the motorcycle, have been taken to the Onipanu Divisional Police Station, Ota.”
