Is WhatsApp Working on Secret Code for Locked Chats on web Client? well, some reports suggest that WhatsApp could be working on it.

In a welcomed development, (I guess) WhatsApp has been observed to be working on improving the chat lock feature. This new improvement is however for the web version of the application. This is to help tighten security and make web version users more comfortable when linking their accounts to the web version.

On WhatsApp for iOS and Android, users can already lock some chats that are protected by a secret code. This feature can help users’ privacy on the network. Details released by a feature tracker indicate that the service is anticipated to provide WhatsApp Web users with the same features.

The recently released secret codes for the locked chats feature, which WABetaInfo, a feature tracker, saw on the most recent version of WhatsApp Web, will soon be available on the web client. The function is still being developed and is anticipated to enhance the privacy of WhatsApp users.

It is anticipated that the feature, which lets users lock and hide specific conversations from the main list of chats behind a secret code, will function similarly to the one seen on WhatsApp for iOS and Android. This code may consist of a word, a phrase, special characters, or emoji. After that, users can view the list of closed and hidden chats by using the same secret code.

With the use of this function, WhatsApp users on a shared laptop or desktop computer with several users can protect some of their discussions from prying eyes. These chats are only visible when the secret code is input correctly, much like the Chat Lock feature that was introduced in November on WhatsApp for iOS and Android.

After the secret code is disclosed, users of WhatsApp’s mobile versions will only access locked communications while the app is active. Reopening the app will make the chats disappear once more, necessitating the entry of the secret code. Users can also go back to the previous chat lock functionality, which required biometric identification, by disabling the secret code option.
