A large number of residents in Okegun Town in Lagos took the streets today in their numbers to show their disapproval with the government’s decision to demolish houses belonging to the residents of Okegun Town.

In the video footage of the protest, the residents called on everyone to make the video go viral and also make a call to the government to stop the demolition of houses in the village.

“They (the residents) said the government wants to demolish their houses, just because they want to build a property or estate, so that is why they are protesting that the government should leave their land for them.

Some of these women said they collected loans to buy these properties and they have not even finish paying for the loan. This is actually a very bad government. Please, let us share this video,” they narrator in the video footage explained.

She went on to add: “This people, they don’t want to be homeless and I don’t want them to he homeless, too.”

Okegun Town is known for its many real estate companies in Ibeju Lekki of Lagos State.
