Beats Solo 4 headphones listed by US regulator, is suggesting launch is nigh. Thanks to a code buried in the most recent iOS update, we already had an inkling that a new set of Beats headphones was in the works, but now that the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) website has included them, it seems almost official.
Apple has submitted a new registration for the Beats Solo 4 (via 9to5Mac). If the FCC registration is open to the public, this indicates that the device will probably launch very soon.
The Beats Solo 4 is long overdue, even by the standards of the best wireless headphones. When it comes to tech launches, eight years is a complete epoch, and the Beats Solo 3 Wireless was released in September 2016. For instance, they were released ahead of the original AirPods, and this year we anticipate the release of the AirPods 4.
Well, at least they’re on the way, and after all that time, you’d think they would contain improved sound quality, along with some AirPods Max-inspired features like personalized spatial audio. The features that Beats has added to its headphones lately have been hit or miss. For example, while rapid pairing is assured, Find My Support and Audio Sharing are not. As soon as Beats Solo 4 is officially announced, we’ll find out exactly what’s included in the menu.
The Solo 4 are expected to provide lossless audio over USB-C, which is also a feature of the Beats Studio Pro, in contrast to the AirPods Max. This feature may make them a good option for Apple Music subscribers who own iPhone 15s. Beats and audiophiles aren’t usually a good combination, but if these new headphones can truly demonstrate the increased resolution over USB-C, who knows?
Beats Solo 4 price
You won’t find any information about the Beats Solo 4 price in the FCC filing, but we can estimate their anticipated pricing.
Although the Beats Solo 3 was originally priced at $199, that was eight years ago, and inflation has since gotten a touch… spicy. Given that the Beats Studio Pro, which will be available in 2023, will cost $249, we can infer that the Solo 4 and the Studio Pro will be somewhat different in price. For the Solo 4, I believe we can budget between $249 and $299. Let’s hope it comes in closer to the cheaper end, though I definitely wouldn’t bet on it.
It may take some time for us to see similar discounts on the Solo 4, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them get similar discounts within a few months of release. As a result, even though they launch at nearly $300, you might only need to pay $200, or even less, if you’re patient. It’s worth noting that the Beats Studio Pro went on sale almost immediately, cutting the price in half.
