It is no longer news that some unidentified serial killers and cult groups have been terrorizing the Ijebu Ode community in Ogun State of Nigeria and its environs recently and this has prompted the police operatives in the state to be on the watch.

It is on this premise that operatives of Ogun state Police Command arrested three members of unrepentant and dreaded Eiye confraternity on the 31st of August.

The police at Obalende Divisional Headquarters in Ijebu Ode identified the suspects to be: Odukoya Odushina, Subomi Popoola and Itunuoluwa Taiwo.

The DPO of Obalende Division while mobilizing his men to the cult group’s hideout disclosed that cult members are often seen holding their meetings in nocturnal locations in Sanga at the back of Central Mosque, with plans to frequently terrorize the peace of the community.

Swagenews gathered that during the intervention by the police, the cultists allegedly retaliated and attacked the policemen with their weapons, but were overpowered and their leader who was later identified as Odukoya Odushina a.k.a “Odus” who is the head of the Eiye confraternity, Subomi Popoola a.k.a Oyan and Itunuoluwa Taiwo were confiscated.

Subsequent investigations by the Police Obalende Division revealed that the confiscated suspects were not allies in cultism, but, were into armed robbery and other related vices.

It will be recalled that the ringleader of the Eiye confraternity, Odukoya Odushina had earlier been arrested and arraigned in court, but was granted bail.

But, three days after his bail, he was involved in a robbery operation along Ayegbami area of ijebu Ode where he killed one Baba Njo. Jewelleries, phones and hard drugs were items recovered from them in the robbery.

The Eiye confraternity has been linked to several killings in ijebu Ode community, recently.

However, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Lanre Bankole, has given orders for a thorough investigation of the gang’s activities, while noting that other members of the gang must be arrested and arraigned before the court.
