Samsung Plans to Return to Square Galaxy Watches in the Future. It’s been rumored that Samsung is preparing to release new Galaxy smartwatches with the regular old square-shaped design. The circular shape found on more recent Galaxy Watch models would no longer be used if and once this takes effect.
In 2013, the Samsung Gear smartwatch with a square screen was introduced by the South Korean electronics giant. With a comparable display form factor, the Galaxy Gear 2 and Galaxy Gear Live came after it. The first circular-designed smartwatch from Samsung with a real spinning bezel was the Gear S2.
According to a report by SamMobile, Samsung wants to redesign its smartwatches with a square, Apple Watch-like style. The well-known Android watch manufacturer is said to be drawing inspiration from earlier iterations of its devices, such as the Galaxy Gear, Galaxy Gear 2, and Galaxy Gear Live, which were released more than ten years ago.
With the Galaxy Gear S2, Samsung debuted a circular design with a spinning bezel. Ever since, the business has adhered to the circular design language. The design is also the same for the most recent generation of Galaxy Watch 6 devices.

It’s unclear if the switch to square displays will happen immediately with the next Galaxy Watch 7 series or if it will take another year.
The Galaxy Watch 7 series, which includes the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch 7 Classic models, is expected to debut alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 smartphones at the company’s upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. July is one possible month for the event. Redesigned software and Exynos CPUs are anticipated for the phones.
