Apple AI-Infused iOS 18 Update – As per Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple’s upcoming iOS 18 update is deemed more ‘important’ than usual, and it is anticipated to be released alongside the rumored iPhone 16 series in 2019. Gurman writes in his weekly newsletter that the company hopes to boost sales of its upcoming smartphone generation by implementing significant enhancements in iOS 17, which is anticipated to be Apple’s next big operating system release. It was recently reported by Apple that the business is developing AI-powered features for the iOS 18 upgrade.

Gurman revealed information in his weekly Power On newsletter that suggests the upcoming iPhone 16 won’t likely come with significant hardware upgrades. This means that the iOS 18 update will need to be “extra impressive” in order to persuade users to switch from the iPhone 15 to the iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max models that were released this year.

The company apparently stopped development recently in an effort to guarantee that the code for the iOS 18 upgrade is stable and bug-free. This was done in an effort to identify and address bugs that were previously undetected. Gurman adds that there are four such six-week milestones prior to Apple revealing its operating system improvements annually at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June and that the company’s progress toward the second milestone has been hampered by the week-long development pause.

According to Gurman, who cites Apple’s senior management, one of the reasons Apple would require its code to be error-free is that iOS 18 is anticipated to deliver “major new features and designs” following years of comparatively iterative iOS version releases. How many of these capabilities will be compatible with older iPhone devices that can get the upgrade is still unknown.

Competitors of Apple have previously introduced AI-powered capabilities that are either slated to roll out in the upcoming months or are now live. Examples of these features are Google Assistant with Bard and Microsoft Copilot on Windows 11. This year, Siri should receive a few AI-powered enhancements thanks to Apple’s extensive language model (LLM). Upgrades supported by AI are apparently in the works for Pages, Keynote, Numbers, and Apple Music. In the upcoming months, we should anticipate hearing more about Apple’s software improvements.
